Hello, my name is Martijn. Wimbledon’s local food photography expert.

I live and work in Raynes Park, just outside Wimbledon, I have decade’s worth of industry expertise and my passion is to tell stories with film and photo. I love to work with food brands, restaurants and creators who genuinely love what they do – this allows me to tell their food story and to make their customers hungry!

3 food photography tips & tricks
The right angle is everything.

There are three main angles used when photographing food: overhead, three-quarters angle and straight on. Which angle you choose depends on the food you are photographing and where the photo will ultimately be used.

Photos need dressing, just like a salad.

Food photography is lifestyle photography. People love to imagine the food they are going to eat in the perfect situation. Dressing your photos with attractive plates or food related items, and taking photos with enticing backgrounds can really sell your dish.

Consider you lighting.

Different types of lighting can suit different types of food and situations. Hard, direct sunlight will create solid bold shadows, that can make your food stand out. But using indirect sunlight or buying a diffuser can soften your shots like indulgent desserts.
